The year 2008 is ending and it's time to take stock. As usual, Science has compiled the top 10 most important scientific discoveries of the year. 4° posto : Nuovi superconduttori: E’ stata scoperta una nuova classe di materiali in grado di condurre elettricità senza creare resistenza anche a temperature elevate.
5° place: Proteins at Work. Were observed in the mechanisms by which the proteins act on cellular metabolism, playing an important role in the formation of tissues.
6th place : Clean energy. During the past year have developed new techniques consentuno to store excess electricity produced by solar and wind
7th place : Embryonic Development: Using a sophisticated microscope was filmed embryonic development of zebrafish, a small freshwater fish.
8th place: good fat. We have studied the properties and functions of the brown fat, which is different from whites. This discovery opens new ways to fight obesity.
